Batik Bliss – JD Design Awards 2024

The new fashion style “Batik Bliss” was created by an MSC in Fashion Design student of the JD Institute of Fashion Technology Bangalore named Devi Hari Chandana. For this collection, the batik technique is applied artistically, while the overall look and feel are doused with a contemporary, youthful presentation in denim.

Concisely, the layout of “Batik Bliss” is aimed at grasping what it means to integrate the old and the new. These are batik designs done on modern denim with a balance of modern cuts and prints; the striking traditional batik prints are evident. Therefore, its combination gives a harmonious yet attractive view of the clothing that possesses traditional and contemporary aspects. Every work that was displayed represents the fine details in batik art and enticing patterns that can ignite stories of a people’s history.

Thus, the material and concept behind the completed collection are an attempt to preserve the cultural references and present something new at the same time. With the fine works of batik as its basis and the feel of casual wear and toughness of denim as its clothing line’s theme, “Batik Bliss” endeavors to design clothes that can be appreciated by many. This combination of formal and contemporary features in the collection makes men’s fashion appropriate for most occasions. This show represents the modern vision of fashion, where tradition and diverseness become synonyms of beauty.

The Batik Bliss collection even more so falls right into it, being the concept of cultural blend. Taking place far in the future where different cultures of the world would have melded and progressed, this concept is a society where batik patterns—more particularly on denim—represent the assimilation of differentiation. It refers to a society in which people of different origins revive their traditional roots in their day-to-day dressing through the use of batik.

In regards to the materials and colors of the collection, denim material is the main component of the garments. The trumpet dress is made from denim to embrace today’s fashion in dress designs while giving the batik patterns a good background upon which they can easily be seen. The sequences also consist of different sorts of blue, which is essential in denim fashion and contrasts nicely with the batiks. Other accessories featured in the collection are strong and delicate lines of pocketing, zip-fastened segments, and buttoned loops, implying the possibility of elaborating additional functional and aesthetic parameters of the clothes. As for the aspect of its usage, Batik Bliss is more of a casual wear; it can be used in everyday life.
