Astral Legacy,” a collection by Oviya S., a student of the MSC in Fashion Design at the JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Bangalore. This assortment is devoted to the immortal wisdom of the horoscope, with notes of modernity and comfort. Our clothes not only look exquisite, but they also have narratives of the stars and elements of nature. That, I think, is the beauty of “Astral Legacy”!
The overall layout of “Astral Legacy” is based on the zodiac symbols and the actual creation of the zodiac by the Babylonians. Toile de Jouy prints with symbols of zodiac signs are present on some of the Oviya S collection, and the patterns depict the beauty of these ancient signs reflected on modern clothing. It is well implemented in the collection in that exploiting the four colors of the elements of fire, water, earth, and air gives a good combination of colors that are meaningful as well as being good to the eye.
Thus the idea behind ‘Astral Legacy’, which can be defined as the idea to respect the perspective of the zodiac signs and, at the same time, adapt them to the modern tendencies of the fashion world, Oviya S. has chosen prints that depict a story, as she has read about the zodiac signs’ origin in Babylon. Including these historical aspects into the modern look, the collection informs and captivates everyone interested in zodiac signs’ history.
This vision of the show “Astral Legacy” corresponds with the genre of futurism as it has reflected what might be forgotten in a century: the zodiac. The collection is ready-to-wear garments and zodiac prints; the most important aspects of the zodiac are passed down and valued in contemporary society. The type of fabric and the varieties of color used in “Astral Legacy,” as we have seen, make it even more special. The collection employs crepe and twill fabrics, both natural fiber fabrics, to be specific, to ensure the high standard of quality of the collection while at the same time observing the aspect of sustainability. All these fabrics are comfortable and ideal for informal wear or any normal day use.
The colors used are beige, natural, red, green, blue, and yellow, which depict the four elements on the garments, while the hues bring out a more spirited and bright look on them. The easier approach to the aesthetic facilities, such as zippers, buttons, hooks, and the like, stressed the practical aspect of the garment as well, making each a fashion and practical clothing item.
