Rifted Realms” A breathtaking fashion collection was created by Sri Ubanisha P. and Vishmaya R., MSC students in Fashion Design at JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Bangalore. This collection has been influenced by Kintsugi, a form of art that entails mending broken ceramics using gold. Kintsugi emphasizes the lessons of respecting the history of objects and acknowledging their imperfections rather than concealing them. “Rifted Realms” is not just an anthology; it is a process of healing, of surviving, and of embracing the shattered but gorgeous aspects of ourselves.
The layout and aesthetic of “Rifted Realms” are heavily influenced by the concept of Kintsugi. Imagine a pretty vase that has been shattered into pieces. Rather than discarding it or concealing the flaws, Kintsugi fixes it with gold, and it becomes more precious. This collection does the same thing with clothing.” Every work in “Rifted Realms” represents the process of dealing with depression, depicting fight, change, and transformation. The garments are intended to make people remember that these imperfections are, in fact, part of their story. They make us special and pretty.
This collection is inspired by life. The work of “Rifted Realms” promotes the concept of memory as a positive agent of transformation. Even as Kintsugi employs gold to emphasize the cracks, this collection employs fashion to emphasize our evolving selves. The designers have thought through how people can reinvent themselves through their histories. Every dress has its own story of struggle and how these struggles serve as building blocks of one’s success.
Thus, “Rifted Realms” aligns with the theme of kinetic energy and unites Kintsugi as a manual craft and motion as energy in its purest form. The collection embodies the process of healing and change through dance. Each crevice and imperfection of the garments is paved with the bright yellow of movement—a beautiful and intricate journey back. The collection can make people realize that healing is not a still and passive process but a lively one.
Materials and colors used in “Rifted Realms” contribute to the theme of the piece. In fact, the designers have opted for denim and linen cotton fabrics, which are both very hard-wearing. These fabrics symbolize what is required to deal with adversity and soldier on. The shades comprise gradients of blue, which stands for serenity, solidity, and depth. Blue is known to be quiet and symbolizes calmness, and this color is perfect for representing the healing process.
