On the evening of October 5th, 2024, Samvaad, presented by Silver Talkies took place at The Koramangala Club. The design took centre stage at this unique gathering that celebrated life, culture, and creativity and brought together senior citizens for a rich cultural experience. The JD School of Design students proudly showcased the spectacular fashion show to prove that design is truly for all, regardless of age.

At the centre of the evening was the sheer collection ‘The Eternal Dance of Time,’ created by the talented designers from JD School of Design. Not just a tribute to the timeless beauty of nature, it was itself a testimony to the philosophy that design transcends age, body, and time, embracing all individuals with grace and elegance.

A journey through the four seasons

The show walked the audience through a visual journey of the aesthetic captured through designs that spoke to the heart of nature’s beauty, all the way from spring to summer, autumn, and winter. The concept of the collection spoke to the fact that, in reality, fashion and design are indeed universal, just like life itself: transformations, growth, and renewal.

Spring: Delicate, white shades with florals revived spring’s renewal and rebirth. Models representing spring energies that bloom in spring hit the runway in all ages to represent freshness and new beginnings, as no stage in life should be deprived of renewal.

Summer: Silhouettes have become white, bright, airy in summer, and full of vitality. Flowing fabrics, overflowing energy, and joy—summer means a focus on comfort while moving, depicts just how fashion can make everyone, regardless of age, own and revel in their dynamism.

Autumn: Rich earthy shades and in-depth layers highlighted the richness of autumn. The colours and texturing applied here depicted change and transformation. Styles in this segment reflect beauty in maturity as we grow older; they add layers of depth and different complexity, which might be echoed in the wardrobe. It paid respect to wisdom and grace with time.

Winter: Sleek whites, icy blues, and soft greys marked the winter collection. Beautifully apt, so eloquently it depicted the soothing beauty and silent strength of frost-covered landscapes. The simple designs gave birth to feelings of calm and stillness, reminding the audience that simplicity is powerful. This section depicted elegance and grace that remain along with us in our life’s seasons.

The Reinvention of Saree: Tradition Meets Modernity

Innovatively experimenting with the design of the saree, a rich cultural legacy of India, which was done by JD School of Design. Tradition and modernity side by side-thriving in this one’s imagination. Innovative drapes and cuts made it up with a perfect blend of timeless elegance carried by the saree and some fresh modern twist to it.

Models from the community, all senior citizens, strut down the runway with a swagger and swept off in Indo-Western saree styles, fusing tradition with innovation in design. It seemed that for no age bar or background, a saree would adapt with time. Here, the saree had transmogrified into something much more for the sake of inclusiveness and celebration of the past.

Design for All-Timeless style and elegance

The show at Samvaad, however, was more than a visual affair. It became a celebration of design for all. Senior citizens, who had participated throughout the evening in cultural performances, walked down the runway wearing both traditional and contemporary designs. That goes to prove that there are no age limits to fashion and that style is eternal, and design is for every generation.

At JD School of Design, design is at the core of what we commit ourselves to teaching and creating. We encourage our students to design things that speak to different audiences; therefore, beauty or elegance does not belong to a particular age or body type. The Jediiian design council members Sakina Yusuf Petiwala, Manasvi Yogesh Patel, Sayoni Guha, Lavanya P, Akila S, Dharini, Anushka Somya , Ricky Mahesh, Joel Sequeira, Bhumi Badera, Amulya Jadhav, Bhakti Shah, Kritika Dokania, Suvarna Sharma, Archana C, Simran Sharma, Sanjana R, Ruquaiya Perween, Shreya Khare, Kajal Sundesha, Kumari Sandhya. B, Harsithaa jayavel, Disha Agarwal, Rachita Jain, Palak Bothra, and Alina Susan Mathew worked extremely hard in putting on a successful show under the guidance of Ms Suma M.  The Eternal Dance of Time perfectly described the concept: the genre is like a global language that celebrates individuality and empowers people from all walks of life.

A night embracing the idea of design; many generations connecting us all came alive at Samvaad by Silver Talkies. JD School of Design and TheStyle.World, as styling partners, revealed the true essence of timelessness in fashion: tradition, modernity, and the beauty of all ages blended into this show.

This fashion show was a success, thanks to both our creative designers and the timeless philosophy that design is for everyone. And we continue to champion ageless fashion and the belief that every individual deserves to experience the evolution and transformation of design.

Indeed, it was one of the unforgettable nights when fashion, culture, and life came together; it left us with the powerful message that style knows no age and design is for all.
