Meet Bauya Shreek, a graduate from JD School of Design B.Sc. Fashion and Apparel Design and as a university topper, she held up the 5th rank in her batch from Bengaluru City University (BCU). Bauya’s story is one of unexpected passion and the transformative power of design. Bauvya agrees to be interested in the field of fashion only due to the glamour but her perspective changed when she understood that studying about fashion is a lot more than just a shiny model picture in a magazine. Delving into the world of fashion, art and design, she discovered a whole new dimension – the excitement of solving problems and creating innovative solutions. This new passion for design as a creative problem-solving force is what really excites Bauya today. Looking back, Bauya expresses immense gratitude for the support she received from her mentors at JD School of Design.

More Than Just A Degree:

The degree she achieved is a testament to their dedication and she acknowledges the profound impact her three years as a design student had on her. This trip wasn’t just about honing design skills; it was the making of the woman she is today. The knowledge that she has gained at JD School of Design has fundamentally changed the way Bauya tackles challenges, big or small. Countless designs, rejections, reworks and group work have taught her some valuable lessons. Growth requires accepting challenges and learning from adversity. Bauya’s technical skills play an important role in her daily work. The knowledge she gained during her studies about the properties of fabrics and the process of manufacturing clothes laid a solid foundation for her career. However, when Bauya is asked about the most impressive experience from her college days, she definitely mentions the JD Design Awards (JDDA). The whole process, from choosing the inspiration to the final production, was a complete and enriching experience. Faculty support and encouragement were key in shaping the plans that emerged from the JDDA project. In Bauya’s own words, “The plans devised at JDDA would not have been possible without the support of our faculties. They have always encouraged us to bring out the best in ourselves. I would like to thank all my faculties for supporting us. The JDDA. project , as I would say, is the best work done so far.
