Greeshma Malepati was selected from many talented students who are studying for the BSc in Interior Design & Decoration at JD School of Design in Bangalore to receive the JD Design Award for Special Jury. The best philosophical thought in Greeshma is the desire to change the standard offices into comfortable and effective working spaces.

Greeshma’s vision for a commercial interior design of a co-working space for interior designers with a focus on biophilia led to the creation of Nature Nest Co-working Space. This is a peculiar co-working office that uses nature to establish a good balance for working productivity. Incorporating the ideas of biophilic design, Nature Nest has more plants inside, wooden and stone structures, and water fountains. These elements not only beautify the workplace but also help in alleviating stress and even boosting the employees’ health.
Regarding work-life integration, at Nature Nest, Greeshma wants it to be a perfect integration of both work and leisure. Quiet zones within the workplace offer designers some chill and relaxation zones in their workplace. Nature Nest has various employee quiet lounges, the popular concepts of nap pods, quiet garden spaces, and calm breakout rooms through which the workers can relax, take a break, or even meditate whenever they feel stressed due to their working schedules. By including and promoting the importance of the psychological and emotional health of the users, the Nature Nest goes beyond the typical standards of the interior design of workplaces.

Greeshma, however, proposes a new style of designing offices and working spaces with a view that will help reduce some of the most common stresses present in this working environment. Through the introduction of biophilic elements and relaxation spaces, Nature Nest not only provides the working environment to meet the interior designers’ practical needs but also enhances the growth of creativity. Thus, this comprehensive environment not only helps to improve efficiency but also contributes to personal satisfaction in the preservation of the work-life balance.
The idea of Nature Nest also responds to Greeshma’s vision of designing progressive offices of the future while keeping in mind the convenience of its users. From a material board with realistic images of wood and stone as well as a mood board that fosters creativity and relaxation, Nature Nest captures the essence of Greeshma’s mission to change the concept of workspace design. Such a perspective not only corresponds to the functional requirements of interior designers but also contributes to the emergence of new ideas about the office. For these efforts, Greeshma has been awarded the JD Design Award for Special Jury at Nature Nest Coworking Space, proving that their concept works towards improving workplace wellness and productivity based on design principles.
