Gayathri R, a student in the MSc in Interior Design at JD School of Design in Bangalore, has won the Special Jury Award at the JD Design Awards 2024 for her project, the Postpartum Wellness Centre. The innovative project ‘Nurturing Nest’ is a place for rejuvenation and recovery for new mothers and their babies; it would focus on physical and mental health through comprehensive postpartum care.

The Nurturing Nest Wellness Centre is a luxury treatment and comprehensive care designed to enhance the postpartum experience. Facilities for baby care, specially designed with professional staff, would tend to the babies while giving time to mothers’ well-being in their own private, fully equipped rooms. A yoga space on the open terrace and soothing water features in the middle of the interiors would attend to maternal mental health.
