Ecosphere Hub – JD Design Awards 2024
Prakruthi S, a postgraduate student of the MSc in Interior Design from JD School of Design, Bangalore, proposed a visionary project, “Ecosphere Hub,” for the JD Design Awards 2024. It involves the redesign of coworking spaces by incorporating leading-edge technology and nature-integrative systems. The flexible areas allow optimum comfort levels in the execution of professional tasks. In her “Ecosphere Hub”, she envisions a vibrant, innovative, and fun workplace environment that will inspire creativity, collaboration, and productivity.

Prakruthi S. has designed “Ecosphere Hub,” a co-working space from a futuristic perspective. Work is underway on how state-of-the-art technologies and green practices could come together in the workspace to come up with a space that does not just turn functional but would inspire and sustain diverse work styles. It would make “Ecosphere Hub” a place on par with technology while being considerate of the environment. The growth in remote work and the rising demand for adaptable spaces that could meet various professional requirements served as the stimulus. Prakruthi’s idea of a coworking space that would integrate cutting-edge technologies such as AR, VR, and IoT devices into its interior makeup to enhance productivity and collaboration.
The “Ecosphere Hub” hosts smart desks that shift on every parameter according to one’s desire, VR meeting rooms that can immerse people in a collaborative environment, and AI-driven tools to smooth workflows and automate all other repetitive tasks. A mix of these elements with principles of biophilic design recreates the ease and serenity of nature within a workspace. In addition, it re-established the connection with nature and therefore provided a balanced and inspiring atmosphere for the professionals.

High-tech components meet ecological design in the “Ecosphere Hub.” This would be a flexible and adaptive working space, from quiet zones for focused work to collaborative corners needed in group projects, all according to the taste and style of the individual members. Community building is further enhanced because it has built-in virtual collaboration tools; hence, professionals working in it would be in a position to connect and share knowledge beyond their physical spaces.
It is glass or acrylic—translucent by nature—implying openness, even allowing for natural light. The incorporation of warm, organic materials, such as wood veneer or some form of bamboo accenting, adds warmth and an organic feel to the space. These design areas also include interactive display areas of touchscreen glass or projection screens that give users the ability to engage in innovative and collaborative interaction with digital information. The “Ecosphere Hub” is a commercial space specifically designed for coworking. This project wants to associate flexibility, technology, and eco-friendliness with the traditional way of working.
