Unveil Design Thinking and Line Language

At the very centre of the display was knowledge from the students about combining design thinking and line language in interior design projects, guided by Ms. Uditi & Ms. Rashmi. It shows how these methodologies allow learners to engage in complex problem-solving, project development, and functional dynamic design.

Design thinking, with its strong markers of empathy, creativity, and rationality, gave a rich framework for real-world problems, while line thinking gave the structured approach needed to order ideas in space. By bringing these two approaches into practice, they have managed to come up with both innovative and practical design solutions.

Objectives and Insights

The objective was mainly to be able to show student works that demonstrated a complete depth of understanding and practice of design and line thinking.

  • Integrated Problem-Solving: The students showed how design thinking was woven within their problem-solving and project development processes.
  • Dynamic Design Solutions: Line thinking was used as a technique, thus giving an exact idea of how this tool assists in creating functional and beautiful designs.
  • Iterative Refinement: Emphasis on feedback and incremental refinements guarantees better project results.

Purpose and Learning Outcomes

The event was more of a showcase; it was a story of how students have progressed in this design process. It showed the attendees firsthand: how design thinking begets innovation and user-centred solutions, while line thinking ensures clarity and coherence.

  • Appreciation of Design Processes: The attendees will further learn how design thinking and line language contribute to problem-solving.
  • Iterative Process Importance: The importance of the design processes being iterative and their role in refining the work were identified.
  • Application of Different Skills: A greater understanding was gained of the variety of projects and the application of different skills and techniques.

Project Portfolios

Many projects were exhibited, which reflected the students’ ingenuity and technical ability.

  • Concept Designs and Prototypes: Project work demonstrating user-centred design methods to creative solutions for interior design problems.
  • Detailed Line Drawings and Schematics: Details regarding the structure and spatiality of the designs have been made clear through these.
  • Models: The students worked up three-dimensional interpretations of their concepts using foam clay and stick bamboo.

Skills and Knowledge Demonstration

The projects displayed were representative of the students’ competence in several critical areas. In user experience design, their work is focused on the needs and experiences of end-users. The iterative design processes the students applied brought out the importance of feedback and continuous improvement. Their ability to communicate through images using various media and techniques was also very clear.
