SketchUp Design Base Camp 2024—On 29th November 2024, students from JD School of Design attended SketchUp Design Base Camp 2024 at Taj MG Road, Bengaluru. The event was a combination of the best design professionals and students that learnt about the latest breakthroughs in the Trimble SketchUp software, the biggest player in the space of architecture, interior designing, and 3D modelling.

The event hosted a series of advanced sessions on a series of innovative topics. The most significant highlight in the series was the integration of AI into SketchUp workflows. This integration is likely to improve the efficiency and creativity of designs. They received training on the process of 3D scanning and importing data into SketchUp. This represents a significant advancement in digital modelling of real-life objects and environments. The sessions also came equipped with versions of the newest Chaos V-Ray and Enscape—a couple of extremely powerful rendering tools to make things seem realer.

This included increasing the emphasis on AI while upgrading both the V-ray and Enscape plugins to give further proof of the transformation that technology was bringing to the design sector. Users are well-educated on all of these high-end techniques, ensuring a quality rendition for any project for the client.

Meeting Mr. Sean Baptist, Senior Regional Manager, APAC at Trimble Solutions SEA Pte. Ltd., has been one of the very special experiences. Meetings that discuss how to improve academic programs and include the latest software developments in the design curricula are always inspirational and insightful.
