The Vintage Cafe is designed to rejuvenate its patrons with new seating experiences and a warm ambience. Much attention has been given to the design process for an intensive exploration of materials and furnishings to meet harmony in nature and comfort with things like bamboo and the levitating chair. The levitating chair, the cafe’s centrepiece, could draw a visitor right into the centre of the space after entering. These chairs seem to float above the ground, offering comfort and elegance in their purest form. They are truly a marvel of modern engineering.

The cafe is a paean to natural beauty and architectural ingenuity, having taken bamboo as its main material. With its predominant use of bamboo on walls and floors, it gives warmth to each corner and signals sustainability. The semicircular arena of ground seating was bathed with natural light from the above skylight, providing an atmosphere of serenity and inviting one to relish each moment. The false ceiling becomes a parametric continuity of bamboo, a repetition that emulates the organic flow of nature, displaying a marvellous exhibition of craft and creativity.

The Vintage Cafe - JD Design Awards 2024

The design of the Vintage Cafe follows the themes of sustainability and innovativeness with the use of eco-friendly materials such as bamboo, terracotta, and other rustic elements. The design of the entire cafe is based on bamboo to underline the modernity of sustainable materials in modern interior design. Besides, the installation of futuristic furniture, including magnetic floating chairs, will add to the uniqueness and originality of the interior.

The inspiration behind The Vintage Café was to draw the old days back into the future. The contrast that binds tradition with modern engineering brings together traditions and innovation, luxury and sustainability—making it a place that gives an unforgettable dining ambience, experiential dining to the senses: the feeding of the body and soul.

Thiriveedhi Jahnavi Priya Tejaswini’s Vintage Cafe is one such dream that recreates the very art of dining. Vernacular charm combines itself with modern luxury in this very sustainable space celebrating nature and innovation together.
